Project Pabst 2024 - How many beers did Alex drink?

After a seven-year hiatus, the best event in Portland has returned, and it feels as if we haven’t missed a sip. The pent-up energy in the music scene of Portland was palpable, and this festival was exactly what was needed to release it. Pabst did an excellent job of paying homage to their past festivals, which was evident in the setup of the tents, and they also shone a spotlight on some talented local visual artists, such as Dentist PDX, who had their work featured among the vendor booths.

Chrome Bags added a unique twist to the event with their bicycle blender contraption, which was both entertaining and engaging for the crowd. Meanwhile, Nico’s Ice Cream became an instant favorite, providing sweet relief under the warm, dusty sun rays.

One of the most special aspects of these festivals is the eclectic lineup that Pabst consistently curates. Whether you're a fan of indie rock with STRFKR, hip-hop with T-Pain, or classic rock with Billy Idol, the variety ensures that everyone finds something they love, while also discovering new favorites throughout the day. The diversity in music reflects the vibrant and varied tastes of Portland’s music lovers.

Beyond the music, the festival is also a feast for the eyes. I have a deep appreciation for fashion, and it's always a delight to see people expressing themselves through their outfits. The array of styles was impressive, from old school grunge to punk rock, country attire, and even whimsical costumes like bananas. This diversity kept the atmosphere lively and entertaining.

For me, T-Pain’s performance was a major highlight. It awakened a wild, ratchet side of me that I had kept restrained for a decade. The energy was electrifying and felt strangely comforting, yet it was also a reminder of a side I had almost forgotten. On the other hand, Billy Idol’s performance was a beacon of hope. It showed that it's possible to maintain an exuberant level of “cool” even as one approaches the age of 70. His stage presence and hit songs were a testament to his enduring talent and charisma.

This festival signaled that Portland is back on the map. After the slumber of the past few years, it was exhilarating to see the city come alive again, guided by the spirits of music and community. I want to give a proper “hell yeah” to the Pabst and Infamous team for orchestrating such a phenomenal event. This past weekend was everything it needed to be, and I am eagerly looking forward to more collaborations in the future. Enjoy some fun photos we captured over the two days and relive the memories of an unforgettable event.
