Curious how Tattoo Machines work? Dentist PDX explains everything.

Every time I get a tattoo, I hear intense buzzing, feel stabbing, bleed everywhere and for somehow I walk away happy looking forward to the next one. After a few years of being tattooed, I’ve never ACTUALLY understood how that tiny machine actually works, and I went to my buddy Ed’s shop to have him break it all down. In these videos, I like to think if you’re a complete muggle to the process, then you could have a little more confidence when stepping into a shop, or maybe even have some guts to try it out yourself for fun.

In the first video, Ed lays it all out, and explains the purpose and role of each small part. I can say for certain, that it became clear that I had no idea these things are so complicated. Yeah I’d seen some needles, yeah I’d seen a rubber band, and some big foam pad thing, but I really though this was more of a “plug and play” approach. Nah, this mechanically sound artwork with a viciously unique brush.

Tattoo culture is hitting its peak of popularity, and with that being said, there is a major shift in culture that goes along with it. Acceptance. We see it in all facets of our generation and even though we can’t look towards the future, we like to think that there’s some cool shit brewing up in the horizon. How will technology change tattoo’s? What kind of inks will be introduced to the scene? Will there be tattoo’s in the Metaverse? If I look deep into orb, I think people like Ed will be an ominous figure of the tattoo industry. He will have beams of light radiating from his body at all times, and his light will be bright with wisdom and he will speak poetically as the crowds gather for his weekly visions.

If that’s not the case, then the industry of tattooers will continue on, and what will be remaining is Ed’s skin design legacy.
