Backstage With: Azizi Gibson, Samuelthe1st, and friends
The music scene never sleeps in PDX and the heart of hip hop was PUMPING as the showcase led by Azizi Gibson was rhythmic, dynamic, and as jolly as the fat man scooting down the chimney. He was seeking the fire too. Aside from the bad analogies, this show was diverse in its hip hop styles, performers, and crowd. We’re finding a new found love for watching the process of a performing artists before the show, performing audio checks, then seeing them getting pumped up right before setting foot on stage, and then seeing the adrenaline fueled performer stepping off with all the vibes. Samuelthe1st started things off RUNNING on stage and Dre Slapz whipped his braids so hard a tsunami warning went off in Japan.
It’s humbling to see a group of artists go on tour, and watch how hard they work to perfect their craft and achieve their dreams. There’s a cadence an artist unknowingly carries as they enter into their wavelength of creativity, and it was very much alive backstage at this amazing show. We wish the best to Azizi and all his crew, and cant wait for them to roll back into town. You’ll hear from us again when they do.
