Interview with Mundo

Edmund “Mundo” Holmes has been rising up in the PDX Art scene since the day he set foot in Portland from Detroit. Being a footwear designer at Nike, you can see his influences on sneaker culture in his work. He’s also an active member of the Aesthete Society, a group of creatives who host interactive events in the area. One could say that his plate is full, but what’s on his plate are paints and brushes. I think he finds it comforting.

When the city went on lockdown, he moved from the canvas to buildings. He takes a unique approach with some of his murals and sometimes will make a large-scale print, or go traditional by hand. If you’re roaming in the streets of Portland, you can also see his work wrapped around some of the Streetcars. With such a distinguishable style, you’ll know for a fact that it’s Mundo’s work.

Even MORE recently, he worked on a Children’s book called “A Little Book About Family” where he got to unleash his artistic skills to a whole new demographic. The more and more I meet artists, I hear time and time again that they would love to make a children’s book at some point. It’s cool to see the vision come to life. Check out his IG and all his amazing work on the webs.
