Interview with McMonster

There’s something about Josh McQuary’s (aka McMonster’s) art that just feels special to me. Maybe it’s the story behind his success; how he just drew for the love of it until people began to offer him money. Maybe it’s how he has developed a signature method that leads to his beautiful paintings. Maybe it’s because even though every painting is, technically, a silhouette, his work never feels the slightest bit repetitive.

One thing we admire greatly at Black Bulb is effective marketing, and McMonster markets his work brilliantly by recording a timelapse of his process. He’s not the first artist to do so, but his process is so fun to watch, it makes for incredibly shareable content. If you haven’t watched one of his timelapse videos, go check them out right now on his Instagram account: @mc__monster (that’s two underscores between mc and monster).
