Interview with Awake

I’ve always felt that the best abstract artists should have a base of traditional skills. Awake is exactly that. Our friend Dr. Scott suggested we invite him to come by Black Bulb HQ and I was surprised to hear about Awake’s process.

He will meet the subject in public places, paint them, and if they’d like to buy it, they may. Now, we all know that paintings aren’t completed in 5 minutes (if you are, you’re probably viral on IG and also gimmicky) He’s as humble as you can be and just goes about his life with these spurts of expression. But I think that’s how it works when you begin your path as an artist by painting your roommate, exploring styles, and focusing on what you’ve discovered in your years of unintended (or intended) research of your artistic vision, and yourself. Awake is the hero in this artistic journey. I’m happy to see that his style is defined, and he’s making a name for himself.
